This was a iron ore smelter in South Frankfort. Ore was shipped from Escanaba. The company produced pig iron for markets in Detroit and Buffalo.

Notes
The operation has 22 kilns to provide charcoal for fuel for the furnace. It produced 40 tons of pig iron a day.

1870. The furnace began operation on July 4.
