Notes

The Negaunee Concentrating Works was an early, large-scale attempt at improvement of iron ore. The facility crushed, washed and sorted ore from the  Jackson Mine. The operation only lasted a few years in the 1880's and was generally  considered a failure. [SSS-2022-11]
