The Purpose of the
Michigan Railroad Club
The Michigan Railroad Club, Inc. is a social organization of railroad enthusiasts with a wide range of interests. Founded by Charles F. Taylor and four other railfans in 1937. Monthly meetings are held at the Radcliff Center, 1751 Radcliff Street, Garden City, MI starting at 7:00 p.m.
Regular monthly meetings are conducted on the first Wednesday of each month. After the business portion of the meeting, either a movie or slide program about railroading is presented. Most of the DVD and slide presentations are put on by MRC members. All members are encouraged to consider presenting a program and may do so by contacting the program chairperson. Visitors are always welcome.
Tours by rail when possible are offered by the club. However, if not, some other types of railroad activities are offered. Notices of these trips, club news as well as other railroad information, is carried in the Club's publication "The Michigan Railfan" which is available to all club members. In addition, special notices are sent out as needed.
There are two regular classes of membership available. ACTIVE and ASSOCIATE. The active class carries with it voting and office holding privileges. Applicants for this type of membership are required to attend three MRC functions - either meetings or trips prior to acceptance. The Associate class does not carry voting or office holding rights. This type of membership is intended for those who do not wish to hold office or are unable to attend meetings regularly. ACTIVE membership is $24 yearly. ASSOCIATE membership is $45 for two years. For an ideal gift, there is a six month TRIAL membership available at $5. This is non-renewable, but upon expiration may be converted to ASSOCIATE status. CANADIAN applicants please add an additional $5 per year for first class mail. All dues must be paid in United States funds.
Applicants for ACTIVE membership must be at least 18 years of age. For ASSOCIATE members 14 years of age. All memberships are on an individual basis, there is no family or gorup membership available. Applicants must select the class of membership desired, complete the application and return it with a check payable in U.S. funds to the Michigan Railroad Club, Inc.
