Station: Simar, MI

Simar was a station stop on the Mineral Range railroad's branch from Keweenaw Bay to the Mass City area in Ontonagon County. The town was about six miles east of Mass City.

Time Line

1923. The MPSC orders the closure of the Mineral Range railroad bridge over the Firesteel River 1 mile east of Simar because it is unsafe for the [rail] traffic presented. [MPSC-1023]. The bridge, a long, high wooden structure, about a quarter of a mile long and covering a gully of 112 feet in depth has been condemned. [LAS-1923-0601]
