Location: Carp Lake Stamp Mill, MI

The Carp Lake Stamp Mill was established east of Carp Lake in Ontonagon County. Today Carp Lake is known as Lake-In-The-Clouds in Porcupine State Park. It was operated by the Carp Lake Mining Company in the 1860's and 1870's. The company worked the south face of the bluff as well as an adit driven into the north side. The mine was at the stop of the bluff. Rock piles, house foundations and a couple caved in adits are visible in the State Park.

The Stamp Mill was built by the Hodge Foundry on Portage lake. Some of the iron machinery is visible today.
