Location: South Bend, IN - GTW-NYC Crossing

This was the original crossing of the Grand Trunk Western main line and the NYC main line, before the GTW route was eliminated through downtown South Bend. This location became the western junction of the new GTW line.

This crossing was located just east of Oliver Yard.

Time Line

1930: The NYC constructs a new interlocking at South Bend. GRS was the manufacturer, and it has 265 electric levers and 98 power operated switches. This installation may have been at a different location. [RSC-1930]
